Template Permissions
Template permissions allow you to control which users and groups can view and edit your templates.
Template permissions are set at the Library folder level. All templates within a folder inherit the permissions set on that folder.
There are three levels of permission:
- Edit:
- Can edit all templates within the folder
- View:
- Can view all templates within the folder but cannot edit them
- Deny:
- Cannot view or edit any templates within the folder. The folder will not be visible.
User Permissions
User permissions can override folder permissions. For example, if you grant a folder permission of Edit but the user does not have the Template.Creator user permission, the user will not be able to edit templates. User permissions are separate from folder permissions. Read more about user permissions here.
How To Set Template Permissions
Template permissions are managed through the Library. You must be an Administrator or have the Library.Creator permission to manage folder permissions.
- Open the Library.
- Hover over the folder containing the templates you want to permission.
- Click the pencil icon that appears on the right-hand side of the folder row.
- Navigate to the Permissions tab in the folder editor.
- Add the users or groups you want to permission and assign each one an Edit, View, or Deny permission level.
- Click Save.

Permission Hierarchy
It is possible for a user to have multiple permissions.
For example, a permission could be set on the special 'All Users' group, which includes all non-guest users, and then a separate permission could be defined for the individual user.
In this circumstance we take the highest permission level and apply that to the user.
