Image Control

The Image control displays an image inside a checklist task. You upload the image when building the template, and it is shown to everyone who runs a checklist from it.

Use it where a picture explains the task better than words — a diagram of the correct assembly, a photograph of where a label goes, a screenshot of the system the user needs to work in.

Add to the Template

The Image control can be added from the controls toolbar in the Template.

Once you have added the control, click Upload to select an image from your device. The image is uploaded to CheckFlow's cloud storage and appears in the template designer immediately. Standard web image formats such as JPG, PNG and GIF are supported.

To replace the image, click Upload again and choose a different file.

Caption

You can enter an optional caption in the text box below the image. The caption is displayed underneath the image in the checklist and is a good place for a short explanation or a source reference.

The caption is also used as the image's alternative text, so it is read out by screen readers and shown if the image cannot be loaded. Writing a caption is therefore worth doing even when the image seems self-explanatory.

Use in the Checklist

The image is displayed in the task, with the caption beneath it if one was set. Images load lazily, so a task containing several images opens quickly.

The control is read-only — users cannot change or remove the image, and it never blocks task completion.

Limits

Images per controlOne. Add another Image control for a second picture.
Maximum file sizeNo limit imposed by CheckFlow. See the note below.
note

CheckFlow does not cap the size of an upload. In practice a very large file is limited by your connection and browser rather than by CheckFlow, and there is no storage quota per checklist or per team.

Notes and Limitations

  • Because the image is part of the template, every checklist created from that template shows the same image. Replacing it in the template does not change checklists that have already been created.

  • To let users upload their own images from within a checklist, use the File Upload control instead.

  • Because it holds no user input, the Image control does not appear in Reports, cannot be the source of a Conditional Logic rule, and cannot be used as a Dynamic Value. It can still be shown or hidden by a condition driven by another control.

  • The Image control cannot take part in a Linked Checklist control mapping, as either the parent or the child side.

  • File Upload — to collect a picture from the user instead of showing one to them.
  • Text — for a smaller image inline among instructions.
  • Video — when the thing you are explaining is a sequence rather than a still.
