Snoozing Tasks

Snoozing hides a task from your own Tasks grid until a time you choose, so a long list comes down to what you can act on now. A snooze is yours alone — the task carries on as normal for everybody else.

Before You Start

  • Anyone with access to the Tasks grid — Administrators and Members — can snooze the tasks listed on it. No extra permission is needed.
  • A task assigned exclusively to somebody else is the exception. It has no snooze icon, and its Snoozed badge does nothing. See Tasks You Cannot Work On.
  • Snoozing is available on the Tasks grid only, not inside a checklist.

Snooze a Task

  1. Hover over the task's row. A snooze icon appears beside the task name.
  2. Click the icon. The Snooze until... popover opens, each option showing the exact time it works out to.
  3. Click one of the quick options, or click Pick date and time and choose from the calendar, then click Save.

Later this week8:00 am on Thursday if today is Monday or Tuesday, Friday if it is Wednesday, Saturday if it is Thursday, and Sunday if it is Friday. Not offered at the weekend

The task drops out of the grid immediately, and a Task snoozed successfully message confirms it. If Snoozed is one of the statuses your view is showing, the row stays put and its Status changes to Snoozed instead.

Snooze Several Tasks at Once

  1. Click the rows you want. Hold Shift to take a range, or Ctrl to pick them out one by one.
  2. Open the actions menu above the grid and choose Snooze Selected Tasks.
  3. Pick a quick option, or choose a date and time from the calendar and click Snooze Tasks.

The dialog heading counts what you selected, and the same four quick options are offered with the same times.

End a Snooze

To bring one task back, show snoozed tasks and click the row's Snoozed badge. Hovering over the badge first tells you when the task would have returned on its own.

To bring several back, select their rows, open the actions menu and choose End Snooze on Selected Tasks.

Either way the task returns to its usual status straight away.

To see what you have snoozed, switch to the Snoozed Tasks view, or add Snoozed to the Statuses filter on the view you are in.

What a Snooze Does and Does Not Do

  • It applies to you only. Nobody else's grid changes, and nobody is told.
  • It hides, it does not defer. The due date is untouched, so a snoozed task still goes overdue on time and still turns red when it comes back.
  • Overdue emails still arrive. The daily overdue reminder does not check snoozes, so a snoozed task that is past its due date still emails its assignees.
  • It ends by itself. The task reappears at the time you set, with no action from you.
  • It survives an edit. Changing the task, its assignees or its due date does not clear a snooze.
  • It does not stop the work. Anyone else can still complete, comment on or reassign the task while it is hidden from you.
