Tagging Checklists

You can add one or more tags to any checklist. Tags applied directly to a checklist are specific to that checklist and do not affect any other checklist, even those based on the same template.

If you want tags to be applied automatically to every checklist created from a template, see Tagging Templates instead.

Adding a Tag to a Checklist

  1. Open the checklist you want to tag.
  2. Click the Show Menu button to expand the checklist menu panel.
  3. Locate the Checklist Tags text box within the menu.
  4. Start typing the name of the tag you want to add.
    • If the tag already exists, CheckFlow will suggest it as you type — select it from the dropdown to reuse the existing tag.
    • If it is a new tag, finish typing the full name and then click away or press Tab to create it.
  5. The tag will appear as a light blue label in the Checklist Tags field confirming it has been added.

Checklist Tag

You can add as many tags as you need. Repeat the steps above for each additional tag.

Reuse Existing Tags

Always select from the autocomplete suggestions when adding an existing tag. This ensures the same tag object is used across items, so that clicking the tag in the Tags Menu shows all relevant items together.

Removing a Tag from a Checklist

  1. Open the checklist.
  2. Click the Show Menu button to expand the checklist menu panel.
  3. Find the tag label you want to remove in the Checklist Tags field.
  4. Click the small × (cross) on the right side of the tag label.

The tag is removed from the checklist immediately. The tag itself continues to exist and remains on any other items it has been applied to.

Tags Added via Templates

If a checklist was created from a template that has tags configured, those tags will already be present on the checklist. These inherited tags behave identically to manually applied tags — they can be viewed, added to, and removed in exactly the same way.

Removing an inherited tag from a checklist does not affect the template or any other checklists. It only removes the tag from that specific checklist.

See Tagging Templates for more on how template tag inheritance works.

Viewing All Checklists with a Tag

Once a tag has been applied to one or more checklists, you can view all tagged checklists by clicking the tag name in the Tags Menu in the left navigation sidebar. This opens the Tag Page which shows a grid of all checklists carrying that tag.

You can also filter the Checklist Dashboard by tag. See Filtering by Tags for details.
